Abstract

Eosinophilic angiocentric fbrosis (EAF) is a relativelyrare, benign and slowly progressive fbroinfammatorydisorder, which mainly involves the upper respiratorytract. EAF was frst described by Holmes and Panje in1983. EAF is typically seen in young to middle-agedfemales and it has a slowly progressive nature. As wellas the sinonasal region the nasal septum is mainly themost common localization of EAF, involvement ofthe larynx and orbita was also described in literature.Symptoms vary with the involved area but nasal ob-struction, epistaxis and epiphora are the most common complaints. Te etiology of EAF is not clear and it isdiagnosed by specifc histopathological features. His-tologically, the lesion is characterized by a perivascular,eosinophil-rich infammatory infltrate and progressivefbrosis which appears as a whirling onion-skin pat-tern. In this paper; a case of sinonasal EAF is reportedwith the clinical course, radiological and histologicalfeatures, etiology and treatment of these lesions basedon updated literature.Key Words: Eosinophilic angiocentric, fbrosis, sinonasal
