Abstract

Te commonly occurring diferentiated thyroid cancer ismicrocarcinoma, which is diagnosed by high-resolutionultrasound and fne-needle aspiration cytology. In viewof their low morbidity and mortality, the crucial point ishow to manage such microcarcinomas. American andEuropean guidelines aim to minimize the diagnosticand treatment procedures without afecting the diagnostic accuracy and the therapeutic efectiveness. Tisgoal is important for papillary thyroid microcarcinoma patients, who have an good prognosis and almost normal life expectancy. Te present review will summarizethe clinical and pathological features of thyroid papillarymicrocarcinoma, including its defnition, presentation, pathology, clinical impact, and therapeutic modalities.
