Abstract

Objective: In this study evaluation of 2015-2016 influenza surveillance results of Influenza Reference Laboratory of Istanbul University, Medical Faculty was aimed. Material and Methods: Influenza viruses in nasal swab samples, which were sent to the Influenza Reference Laboratory in Istanbul University, Medical Faculty Virology and Basic Immunology Division within the context of the Influenza Surveillance, were investigated using real-time PCR method. Results: A total 2024 nasal swab samples were investigated at the Influenza Reference Laboratory at the 20th week of 2015-2016 flu season. Influenza virus was detected in 610 (30%) of the investigated samples. Three hundred and nineteen (52%) positive samples were identified as influenza A (H1N1) pdm09, 201 (33%) as influenza A H3N2 and 90 (15%) as influenza B.Conclusion: Surveillance studies are extremely important for unveiling the effects of flu on public health and determining the methods for fighting against flu. According to our results the 17-51th weeks in 2015-2016 flu season were determined to be the activation time, while the peak period occurred in the 3rd week with influenza A (H1N1) pdm09 dominancy.

Özet

Amaç: Bu çalışmada, İstanbul Tıp Fakültesi, İnfluenza Referans Laboratuvarı'nın 2015-2016 influenza sürveyansı bulgularının değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Gereç ve Yöntem: Ulusal İnfluenza Sürveyansı kapsamında İstanbul Tıp Fakültesi, Viroloji ve Temel İmmunoloji Bilim Dalı İnfluenza Referans Laboratuvarı'na gönderilen nazal sürüntü örneklerinde influenza virüsleri real-time PCR yöntemi ile araştırılmıştır. Bulgular: 2015-2016 grip sezonunda İnfluenza Referans Laboratuvarı'nda 20. hafta itibarı ile toplam 2024 burun sürüntü örneği incelenmiştir. İncelenen örneklerin 610 (%30)'unda influenza saptanmıştır. İnfluenza pozitif örneklerin 319 (%52)'u influenza A (H1N1) pdm09, 201 (%33)'i influenza A H3N2 ve 90 (%15)'ı influenza B olarak tiplendirilmiştir. Sonuç: Sürveyans çalışmaları, gribin toplum sağlığı üzerindeki etkilerinin ortaya çıkarılması ve grip ile mücadele yollarının belirlenmesi açılarından oldukça önem taşımaktadır. Bulgularımıza göre 2015-2016 grip sezonunda 51.17. haftalar aktivitenin görüldüğü zamanlar olarak belirlenirken pik dönemi 3. haftada influenza A (H1N1) pdm09 baskınlığında yaşanmıştır.
