Bu çalışmada Almanya’ya işçi alımı ile yerleşen Türklerin Almanya’ya ilk gidişlerinden, seksenli yıllardaki sosyo-ekonomik durumdan, birinci ve ikinci kuşağın yaşadıkları çeşitli uyum sorunlarından ve bunlara sebep olan etkenlerden bahsedilmiştir. Çalışmada seksenli yıllarda ortaya çıkan ya da ikinci kuşak olarak adlandırılan kuşağın yazdığı eserlerdeki kimlik arayışını ortaya çıkarmak amaçlanmıştır. Seksenli yıllarda küçük yaşlarda Almanya’ya gelmiş ya da orada doğmuş olanların oluşturduğu ikinci kuşağın içinde bulunduğu bu kimlik arayışını örneklendirmek amacıyla Alev Tekinay’ın “Dazwischen” ve İsmet Elçi’nin “Sinan ohne Land oder Memo, mein Vater” eserleri seçilmiştir
