Abstract

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality throughout the world and contributes aconsiderable burden to healthcare costs. Primary preventionstrategies, particularly adopting healthy lifestyle habits, havegreat potential to reduce the risk of CVD. Patient complianceremains the major cause of the failure of primary preventionstrategies. Telehealth interventions and gamification throughmobile applications can increase adherence and reducehealthcare costs. The primary objective of this study is tocompare the effect of lifestyle intervention using mobile technology plus usual care with usual care alone in patients witha high CVD risk.
