Abstract

In this study, some biological features and feeding relation on aphids of Aphidoletes aphidimyza (Rondani) (Diptera, Cecidomyiidae) were studied. The main materials of this work were the insect pest Macrosiphum euphorbiae (Thomas) (Homoptera, Aphididae) as a host insect and the predator A. aphidimyza. Experiments were carried out at during (16;8) light period, constant temperature (25±1$circ$C) and relative humitity (60-70 %) under laboratory conditions. The average incubation period of eggs were 43 hours, average developmental time of newly hatched larvae were 96 hours (4 days) and average pupation period were 336.2 hours (14 days). The average developmental time of the adult (from egg to adult) of A. aphidimyza fed on M. euphorbiae were found to be 19.8 days. On the other hand, the life longevity of adult was found to be 3 to 4 days. A single A. aphidimyza larva was found to eat 20.5 M. euphorbiae. Most of the feeding was done by 3 and 4 days old larvae.

Bir A. aphidimyza larvası, gelişme süresi boyunca ortalama 20.5 adet M. euphorbiae tüketmiştir.
