Abstract
Aim: The aim of this research is to examine the relationship between the future of career in nursing students and their image perceptions towards nursing profession. Method: The sample of the descriptive and cross-sectional research consisted of 149 students who studied at the Nursing Department and agreed to participate in the study. The data of the research were collected using an Information Form containing questions about demographic and career planning, Career Futures Inventory (CFI) and The Scale for The Image of Nursing Profession. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Kruskal-Wallis test, Bonferroni test and Pearson correlation tests. Results: The average age of the students participating in the study was 21.26 ± 1.67, while 94.63% of them were female students and the majority of them were Anatolian High School graduates. Weakly positive correlations were found among student nurses’ perceptions about future of their career, their nursing image perceptions were weak, their career future and their nursing image perceptions. Conclusion: It is thought that providing a positive perspective to the career future of student nurses may positively contribute to the perception of nursing image.

Amaç: Bu araştırmanın amacı, hemşirelik öğrencilerinde kariyer geleceği ile hemşirelik mesle- ğine yönelik imaj algısı arasındaki ilişkinin incelenmesidir. Yöntem: Araştırma tanımlayıcı ve kesitsel tasarımda yapılmıştır. Hemşirelik bölümünde öğre- nim gören ve araştırmaya katılmayı kabul eden 149 öğrenci örneklemi oluşturmuştur. Araştır- manın verileri demografik ve kariyer planlamasına ilişkin soruları içeren “Bilgi Formu, Kariyer Geleceği Ölçeği ve Hemşirelik Mesleğine Yönelik İmaj Ölçeği” kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Veriler, tanımlayıcı istatistikler, Kruskal-Wallis testi, Bonferroni testi ve Pearson korelasyon testleri kul- lanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Bulgular: Araştırmaya katılan öğrencilerin yaş ortalaması 21,26±1,67 olup %94,63’ü kadın ve çoğunluğu Anadolu lisesi mezunudur. Öğrenci hemşirelerin kariyer geleceğine ilişkin algılarının düşük olduğu, hemşirelik imaj algılarının zayıf olduğu ve kariyer geleceği ile hemşirelik imaj algıları arasında pozitif yönde bir ilişki belirlenmiştir. Sonuç: Öğrenci hemşirelerin kariyer geleceğine olumlu bakış açısı kazandırılmasının hemşire- lik imajı algısına katkı sağlayabileceği düşünülmektedir.
