Abstract

Objective: Pericardial effusion is associated with poor prognosis in breast cancer patients. Neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio is an inflam‐ matory marker which can show recurrence in idiopathic pericarditis and prognosis in breast cancer. In this study, association between neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio and pericardial effusion in breast cancer patients is investigated. Material and Methods: 1060 consecutive breast cancer patients which were examined in outpatient cardiology clinic as a part of rou‐ tine oncologic follow up were enrolled and grouped according to presence of pericardial effısion in echocardiography. Association of neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio and pericardial effusion was investigated by using multivariate logistic regression analysis. Results: Mean age of the participants was 52.83 and 87 of them (8.2%) had pericardial effusion. Cancer grade, rate of radiotherapy his‐ tory and neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio were higher in patients with effusion. A ROC analysis revealed that at a cut‐point of 2.60, neu‐ trophil to lymphocyte ratio predicts pericardial effusion with 68.4 sensitivity and 66.2% specificity. Multivariate logistic regression anal‐ ysis showed that neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (OR: 2.569, p

Çok değişkenli lojistik reg‐ resyon analizi, nötrofil/lenfosit oranı (OR: 2,569, p
