Abstract

The aim of the present study is to introduce the tendencies of prospective primary teachers regarding alternative assessment-evaluation methods and to ascertain their opinions on the assessment-evaluation tools applied in primary schools. The interview method, a qualitative research method, was employed in the research and 47 prospective primary teachers have were interviewed. In line with the findings of the study; it can be asserted that prospective teachers have emphasized that they want to make process-based evaluations and, that alternative assessment tools need to be applied more commonly for them to do so. Based on the answers given, the alternative assessment tools which the prospective teachers plan to use are as follows; portfolios, self-evaluations and projects. Besides, prospective teachers thought that the evaluations made in primary schools are more product-based; are far from such skills as interpretation, synthesis, evaluation. They also thought that skills and individual differences of students are not taken into consideration.

Özet

Bu çalışmanın amacı; sınıf öğretmeni adaylarının alternatif ölçme-değerlendirme yöntemlerine ilişkin eğilimlerini ortaya koyabilmek ve ilkokullarda uygulanan ölçmedeğerlendirme araçlarının gerçek başarıyı yansıtıp/yansıtmadığına ilişkin düşüncelerini belirleyebilmektir. Çalışma, nitel araştırma deseni esas alınarak yürütülmüş ve tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Verilerin toplanmasında, yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme tekniği kullanılmış ve 47 sınıf öğretmeni adayı ile görüşmeler yapılmıştır. Verilerin çözümlenmesinde ise içerik analizi kullanılmıştır. Bulgular; öğretmen adayları, özellikle sürece yönelik bir değerlendirme yapmak istediklerini, bunu yapmak için de alternatif ölçme araçlarına yer verilmesi gerektiğini vurgulamışlardır. Öğretmen adaylarının kullanmayı düşündükleri alternatif ölçme araçları cevapların yoğunluğu doğrultusunda; portfolyo, öz-değerlendirme ve projedir. Ayrıca; öğretmen adaylarının çoğu ilkokullarda yapılan değerlendirmelerin daha çok ürüne dayalı olduğunu; yorumlama, sentez, değerlendirme düzeyindeki kazanımları ölçmede yetersiz olduğunu; öğrencilerin yeteneklerinin ve bireysel farklılıklarının dikkate alınmadığını düşünmektedirler.
