Abstract

Luteoma of pregnancy is a rare nonneoplastic tumorlike mass of the ovary that emerges during pregnancy and regresses spontaneously after delivery. It is usually asymptomatic and is found incidentally during a sectio abdominalis or postpartum tubal sterilization. Luteoma of pregnancy can be of extremely varying sizes. They are usually multiple, well boarded, containing nodules and are bilateral in 45 % of the patients. Luteomas can be honnonally active. In addition, they cause maternal and fetal hirsutism and virilization with production of androgenes.
