Abstract

The aim of this study is to identify the effects of Student Teams-Achievement Divisions technique th and Group Investigation technique on increasing 7 grade students' academic achievements in the unit “electricity in our life” at the science and technology course. This study included 56 primary th school students from two different classes at the 7 grade of a primary school during the 2010- 2011 academic year. The study carried out in two different groups. One of these groups served as the Student Teams-Achievement Divisions Group (STADG), using group Student TeamsAchievement Divisions technique and the second served as the Group Investigation Group (GIG), using Group Investigation technique. The main instrument for obtaining data was the Academic Achievement Test (AAT). The data obtained on instruments were evaluated by using descriptive statistic, independent samples t test, paired sample t test and effect sizes. As the result of the research revealed that Student Teams-Achievement Divisions Group (STADG) is more successful than Group Investigation Group (GIG)
