Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the correlations between height and cardiovascular risk factors in obese women. Study group is composed of 1998 obese women (body mass index-BMI- > 27 kg/m2) admitted our outpatient obesity clinic (mean age 37.13 ± 11.74 years). Fasting blood glucose > 126 mg/dL, cholesterol and triglycéride concentrations > 200 mg/dL, blood pressure > 140/90 mm Hg, uric acid concentrations > 5.5 mg/dL and HDL cholesterol concentrations < 45 mg/dL we-re considered as cardiovascular disease risk factors. Each of these risk factors was scored as one point and "total risk factor point" was calculated by the sum of these risk factors existing in individual subject. Significant negative correlations were observed between height and age (r=-0.2512, p

Özet

Bu çalışmanın amacı şişman kadınlarda boy uzunluğu ile metabolik risk faktörleri arasındaki ilişkiyi araştırmaktır. Çalışma kapsamına Şişmanlık polikliniğimize başvuran 1998 şişman (beden kitle indeksi-BMI- > 27 kg/m2) kadın hasta alınmıştır (ortalama yaş 37.13 + 11.74 yıl). Bu grupta açlık kan şekerinin 126 mg/dL, kolesterol ve trigliserid düzeylerinin 200 mg/dL, da-mar basıncının 140/90 mm Hg, ürik asit düzeyinin 5.5 mg/dL nin üzerinde ve HDL kolesterol düzeyinin 45 mg/dL niri altında bulunması risk göstergesi olarak kabul edilmiştir. Her risk faktörü varlığına 1 puan verilerek her hasta için toplam risk puanı hesaplanmıştır. Çalışma grubunda boy uzunluğu ile yaş (r=-0.2512, p
