Abstract

The purpose of modern dentistry is the early prevention of tooth decay rather than invasive restor- ative therapy. In recent years, remineralization of the demineralised enamel without using any restorative treatment becomes more important. Nano-sized particles have similarity to the apatite crystals of tooth enamel in morphology and crystal structure. Recently, some reports have shown that nano-hydroxyapatite has some potential to remineralize of enamel lesions. In this review, the effects of nano-hydroxyapatite toothpastes on remineralization were examined and studies on this subject were explained with details.
