Afrika ve Orta Amerika'da endemik olan ve halk sağlığı problemi oluşturan onkoserkoz; şiddetli kaşıntılı dermatit, deri-altı nodüller ve körlüğe yol açabilen göz lezyonlarına neden olan bir filaria infeksiyonudur. Altmış-dört yaşında erkek hastanın iliak bölgesinde yerleşmiş kaşıntılı derialtı nodulunun eksizyonu ve histopatolojik incelenmesi ile tanı konulan Onchocerca volvulus infeksiyonu olgusu, bu hastalığın Türkiye'de ender görülmesi nedeni ile sunulmaktadır.
