Abstract

Vertical Electrical Sounding (VES) is one of the first used method in applied geophysics and have been used commonly at the present time. By using the lateral or vertical electrical conductivity, determination of geological structure is one of the main goals of the application of electrical methods. For this purpose, several evaluation techniques (visual interpretation techniques, modelling etc.) could be applied to the apparent resistivity data obtained in the field and could be determined thicknes and electrical parameters of layers. By using this determined parameters, theoretical geologic model could be determined. In this study, Damped Least-Squares (Marquardt) algorithm is used to interpretation of apparent resistivity curves from horizontally layered earth models. Iteration progress and the modification of Marquardt factor are controlled by rms vale. After testing the method by artificial model, the technique was applied to the real data.
