Abstract

Objective: The aim of the study was to compare the effects of breast milk and olive oil on protection of nipple pain and nipple cracks in early postpartum period. Method: The study was carried out as an experimental study at a private hospital and at a university hospital. Data were collected between May 29, 2009 and June 30, 2010. Study sample included a total of 39 mothers;mothers each in breast milk, olive oil, or control groups. Data were collected using the questionnaires, follow-up form, breastfeeding observation form, and Visual Analog Scale at the hospital at day one, and at the hospital orhome on day three via self-reports of mothers or by face-to-face interviews and evaluated by descriptive statistics, Fisher s exact test, Kruskal-Wallis one-way analysis variance, and Friedman and McNemar tests. Result: Applications were practiced the most by the mothers the breast milk (6-12 times) and olive oil (3-10 times) groups, and the least the control group (5-8 times) (p

Örneklemi AS, ZY ve kontrol grubunda 13er (toplam 39) anne oluşturmuştur. Veriler, soru formları, izlem formu, emzirme gözlem formu ve Görsel Kıyaslama Ölçeği kullanılarak 1. gün hastanede, 3. gün hastanede ve/veya evlerinde yüz yüze görüşme yöntemi ve annelerin öz bildirimleriyle toplanmış, Fisher Kesin Ki-kare, Kruskal Wallis Varyans Analizi, Friedman ve McNemar testi ile değerlendirilmiştir. Bulgular: En fazla AS (6-12 kez) ve ZY (3-10 kez), en az kontrol grubu (5-8 kez) uygulama yapmıştır (p
