Abstract

Viruses are responsible in etiology of childhood thrombocytopenia besides autoimmunity. For this purpose, the role of Parvovirus B19, EBV, Measles, Rubella, CMV and Hepatitis B virus in etiology were studied in children with thrombocytopenia. 11 of our cases were male and 13 were female. Average age was 4.04±4.23 years. Parvovirus B19 IgM positivity was detected in 6 patients (%25). There were no statistically significant difference between the average ages, sexes, platelet counts and MPV values of Parvovirus B19 positive and negative cases. Monotest was positive in 2 of the patients (%8.3), Rubella IgM was positive in one (%4.17) and CMV IgM was positive in 3 patients (%12.5). HBsAg, Anti-HAV, HIV and anti-HCV positivity were detected in none of the patients. As a result, we have found that Parvovirus B19 is a common etiologic agent in cases of childhood ITP. We concluded that it has to be investigated in etiology of childhood ITP cases without the presence of its other clinical findings.

Özet

Çocukluk çağı trombositopeni etyolojisinde otoimmünite yanında virüsler de sorumlu tutulmaktadır. Bu amaçla trombositopenisi bulunan çocuklarda Parvovirus B19, EBV, kızamık, rubella, CMV ve Hepatit B virüsünün etyolojideki rolü araştırılmıştır. Olgularımızın 11'i erkek, 13'ü kız, yaş ortalaması 4.04 ( 4.23 idi.
