Abstract

For better understanding of etiopathogenesis of rotatory cuff lesions and clinical planning as a result of improvement of management methods more detailed information is necessary. Our aim is to appreciate the diagnostic value of MRI (Magnetic resonance imaging) recently becoming available and to compare it with ultrasonography in the diagnosis of subacromial impingement syndrome. In our study, 31 cases prediagnosed as subacromial impingement syndrome were examined with MRI and ultrasonography. İn addition to sensitivity of MRI in detecting early tendineous lesions and tears its multiplanarity provides chance of more detailed examination of ligaments, synovial bursae, joint capsule and labrums and other surrounding soft tissue, bone and cartilaginous structures. In patients with subacromial impingement, although MRI is the major radiological examination method, because of low cost, short duration and real-time examination advantages, USG can be an effective method in patients suspected of massive tendon tears.

MRG sınıflamasına göre, olgularımızın 10'u evre I (tendonda dejenerasyon), 11 'i evre II (tendonda dejenerasyon/parsiyel yırtık), 10'u evre III (tendonda komplet yırtık) olarak değerlendirildi.
