Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the relationship between chronic pharyngitis and swallowing dynamics. Method: Fifty patients (26 female, 24 male) with a clinical and laboratory diagnosis of chronic pharingitis were included in the study. Esophagial transit time was measured by using esophagial transit scintigraphy. Esophagial transit time of our patients was compared with mean esophagial transit time values of healty subjects reported in the literature. Results: Mean value of esophageal transit time in our patients was 8.6±1.2. This result is not significantly different from the normal value. Conclusion: Esophageal transit time in patients with chronic pharyngitis found not to be significantly different from normal subjects reported in the literature. We have concluded that chronic pharyngitis has no influence on esophagial dynamics.

Özet

Amaç: Kronik farenjitîi hastalarda özofagus motilite değişikliğini araştırmak. Yöntem: Kronik farenjit tanısı ile tetkik ve tedavisi süren 26'sı kadın 50 hastanın özofagus motilite transit zamanını ölçmek amacı ile özofagus transit sintigrafisi yapıldı. Sonuçlar literatürde bildirilen normal özofagus boşalma zamanı verileri ile kıyaslandı. Bulgular: Hastalarımızın ortalama özofagus transit zamanı 8.6±1.2 bulundu. Bu değerler, literatürde bildirilen normal sonuçlardan anlamlı derecede farklı değildi. Sonuç: Kronik farenjitîi hastalarda özofagus motilite sonuçlan normal sınırlardadır.
