Abstract

Trichorrhexis nodosa is the most common of all structural hair abnormalities. The hair is dry, brittle, and lusterless, with irregularly spaced grayish-white nodes on the hair shaft. Microscopically, the nodes have the appearance of two interlocking brushes. Trichorrhexis nodosa may be a congenital or acquired, localized or generalized abnormality. It has been noted as an isolated congenital defect in some families, has been observed in some infants with Menkes syndrome or argininosuccinic aciduria, and may occur in Netherton syndrome or in association with ectodermal dysplasia. Here, we reported three yearsold age and four years-old age two sibling who have diagnosis on trichorrhexis nodosa. There were observed irregular spaces longitidunal fractures and brushes white nodules of distal hair shaft on electron microscopic examination. We aimed to review trichorrhexis nodosa associated with literatures.

Özet

Trikoreksis nodoza en sık görülen saçın yapısal bozuklukları ndandır. Saçlar kuru, kırılgan ve mat olup, kıl şaftının yüzeyinde düzensiz yerleşimli gri-beyaz nodüllerle karakterizedir. Mikroskobide nodüller içiçe geçmiş fırçalar şeklindedir. Trikoreksis nodoza konjenital veya akkiz, lokalize veya generalize olabilir. Bazı ailelerde izole doğumsal bozukluklar bildirilmiştir, Menkes sendromu, argininosüksinikasidüri, Netherton sendromu ve bazı ektodermal displaziler de eşlik edebilmektedir. Olguların saç örneklerinde elektron tarama mikroskopik incelemesinde kıl gövdesinin distal bölümünde düzensiz aralıklarla yerleşmiş uzunlamasına kırılmalar ve fırçamsı beyaz nodüller izlendi. Burada literatürler eşliğinde trikoreksis nodosanın yeniden gözden geçirilmesi amaçlandı.
