Abstract

More than 90% of renal artery stenosis cases are caused by atherosclerosis. Although it is a long- practiced treatment method to circumvent this kind of stenosis by stent implantation, it is not yet clear if there is a significant difference between stent implantation and medical treatment on renal functions and vascular events. ARAS can be found in 15-23% of patients with coronary artery diesase, 28-38% of patients with aorto- iliac atherosclerosis, and 39-45% of patients with lower extremity vascular disease. ARAS is responsible for 67% of renovascular hypertension cases and 15-27% of these patients develop end-stage renal failure. In our study, we have examined the 3 cases in which ARAS was identified and Percutaneus Transluminal Renal Anjiography (PTRA) endovascular stent was applied.
