Abstract

Fracture of the proximal ulna with radial headfracture-dislocation is called Monteggiafracture. Bado classified these fracturesaccording to dislocation of the radial headanteriorly, posteriorly or laterally. 67-year- old female patient with indoor accident wasadmitted to our emergency department. Inradiographs, posterior elbow dislocationwith proksimal radial shaft fracture wasidentified. Closed reduction of the elbowwas performed and radius fracture was fixedsurgically. Three weeks after the cast wasremoved and active exercises were started. We report the rare combination of a closedfracture of the upper third of the radiuswith ipsilateral posterior dislocation of theelbow joint and also propose an additionof a new fifth subtype to classification ofBado because of insufficiency about thesefracture taxonomy.
