Abstract

Biliary obstruction is most commonly caused by choledocholithiasis and periampullary tumors. Duodenal diverticulum is a rare pathology and usually asymptomatic. Obstruction of the bile duct due to duodenal diverticulum is known as Lemmel's syndrome. There are difficulties in both diagnosis and treatment. Presently described is the successful treatment of an 84-year-old patient with Lemmel's syndrome using endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography.
