Abstract

Aim: To research the relationship between gag reflex and dental anxiety during intraoral radiography taking. Subjects and Methods: A total of 218 patients in need of full mouth periapical radiographs were asked before exposure to fill in a form that included Corah Dental Anxiety Scale (DAS). Depending on the gag reflex intensity during radiograph taking patients were classified into four groups. Correlation between dental anxiety and intensity of gag reflex was statistically evaluated. Results: As regards DAS scores, a statistically significant difference was found between the four groups classified depending on gag reflex (p
