Abstract

Appendix invagination is a rare condition. It can be seen in both males and females at every age but is seen primarily in males during the first decade of life. Diagnosis is generally made incidentally on patients who are operated on with the suspected preliminary diagnsosis of acute appendicitis. Colonos- copy may be incidentally diagnosed with appendiceal invagination. Endos- copists should be careful because it is possible to come across with caecum polyps. We report on a case concerning a female patient who had occasional abdominal pain. Invagination of the appendix was suspected following colo- noscopic examination. The mass was excised with wedge resection. The mass surroundings were fibrotic and blue-black in color. In conclusion, appendix invaginaton is a rare situation and perioperative colonoscopy might be help- ful in its diagnosis
