Abstract

Introduction: The coronary artery disease is assumed as themost effective cause of the mortality and morbidity in the developed countries. One of the variable risk factors, obesity is noticed commonly with the other risk factors. But in all these risk factors as etiologicaliy are not known which one is the first major cause of the pathology. Meanwhile, description of the obesity etiology is going to useful for both of the obesity cure and the effectiveness of the obesity On the other risk factors certainly!,2). Material and Method: In our study, we made two different groups which one is coronary artery disease group II (43 patients) and is not a coronary artery disease group I (34 patients) to find the effects of leptin on the coronary artery disease independently from, obesity. Results: There was no difference between two groups for fasting blood glucose data (for group l=108.2±15.5 and group 11=109.2±13.9, p>0.05). However, total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol of group2 were significantly higher than the other group (groupl (total cholesterol)=222.1±19.6, groupl (LDL)=132.12±12.1 and groupll (total cholesterol)=235±18.3, groupll(LDL)=137.1±11.4, p0.05). Conclusion: As a result we have found the leptin values high in both groups but we have recognized no difference between the groups and our opinion this says to us that the leptin is not playing a role independently from the obesity in the coronary artery disease.
