Abstract

latrogenic vessel injuries associated with frequent invasive diagnostic and therapeutic methods are on the rise, to date. Orthopaedic procedures, catheterizations, percutaneous and organ biopsies, laparoscopic and surgical procedures close tho vessels cause iatrogenic vessel injuries. Vessel injuries in the upper and lower extremities in Orthopaedic procedures, especially the ones with the usage of Kirschner's needle may occur, though not frequent. Küncher operation was performed on our 23 -year- old patient who had left femur fracture as a result of a car accident 2 years ago. Later, İlizarov external fixation technique was used on our patient who has had several operations because of osteomyelitis. Kirschner's needle has injuried the superficial femoral artery and caused a pseudoaneurysm which was later revealed by oedema and hemorrhage. The patient was refered to department of the Cardiovascular Surgery of Gülhane Military Medical Academy Haydarpaşa Education Hospital vvhere he was operated. Kirschner's needle was taken out and the injuried vessel was reparied with end-to-end anostomosis.
