Abstract

We report on a seventeen year-old male of nonconsanguineous parents referred to the hospital because of mental retardation and facial dysmorphism. The proband had psychomotor retardation with tall and thin stature, microtie, high palate, dentinogenesis imperfecta, supernumerary teeth including second molars, narrow thorax, camptodactyly, aracnodactyly, long and thin feet and psychotic behaviour. IQ was 45. He had hypermetropia. Echocardiography showed aortic insufficiency and mitral valf prolapsus. Karyotype was normal 46, XY. His mother had two spontaneous abortions, and she had thin and tall stature with arachnodactyly. We present this case to point out the importance of X-linked marfanoid habitus with mental retardation, which is a quite rare condition in the differential diagnosis of mental retardation.

IQ testi 45 bulundu. Gözlerinde +6.5 kırma kusuru, çekilen ekokardiyografisinde birinci derece aort yetmezliği ve mitral prolapsus saptandı. Karyotip 46, XY normal bulundu. Anne ve baba arasında akrabalık yoktu. Annenin iki adet sebebi bilinmeyen düşük hikayesi, araknodaktili ve ince, uzun vücut yapısı vardı. Mental retardasyon nedenlerinden biri olan ve Marian sendromuyla karışabilen X'e bağlı marfanoid habitus nadir görülmesi nedeniyle sunuldu.
