Abstract

Splenic artery aneurysms (SAA) are an uncommon clinical entities that usually have an asymptomatic course but carry the risk of rupture and fatal hemorrhage. Association of these lesions with atypical symptoms or rupture is not suprising and the number of symptomatic cases and rupture increase with age. The current therapeutic menu includes open surgery, catheter embolization or laparoscopic ligation. In this report we present an old female patient with SAA who had precordial pain simulates ischemic heart disease after exercise and feeding. The proximal saccular SAA was treated surgically and discussed symptoms, presentation and treatment of these lesions.
