Abstract

In recent years clinicians have reported two phenomena that affect the lives of many women: eating disorders and sexual abuse. Some studies suggested that there may be a direct link between sexual abuse and pathology in eating behavior. However in general, sexual abuse is considered as a risk factor in biopsychosocial etiological model of eating disorders. Recent literature showed that perceived touch deprivation both during the childhood and adult-life was greater in eating disorder patients. These results suggest that touch deprivation may play an important role in body image pathologies. In this article, four cases with eating and behavior disorders who have been sexually abused as a child were presented.
