Abstract

Although infrequent, hemangioma is the most common benign primary neoplasm of the spleen. Generally, they are asymptomatic and most of them are incidental lesions which detected on imaging studies. Therefore they should be remembered in the differential diagnosis of splenic lesions. Also it must be distinguished from other vascular tumors or tumor-like lesions of the spleen in the histopathological diagnosis. In this paper, we present two splenic hemangioma cases and reviewed the literature. The first case was a 53-years-old male patient. Multiple masses were detected in USG. Splenectomy was performed with a suspected diagnosis of lymphoma. Pathological analysis of the splenectomy material revealed a the hemangioma of the spleen. The second case was a 62-years-old female patient. A mass was incidentally detected in the spleen during evaluation for cholelithiasis. After the splenectomy, the diagnosis of hemangioma was made.
