Abstract

In this research, the views of academics in faculties of education regarding whether the faculties of education are ready for accreditation process or not and whether there are significant differences among their views according to their gender, title and having an administrative position or not were examined. The descriptive survey model was used in the study. 161 academics who worked in Faculties of Education in Ankara University, Gazi University and Middle East Technical University constituted the sample of the study. According to the findings of the study, while the academics thought that their faculties are ready for accreditation in terms of "student dimension", they exhibited hesitant attitudes regarding whether their faculties are ready or not in terms of other sub-dimension ("the academic staff", "faculty", "faculty-school cooperation", "facilities, library and equipment", "administration" and "quality assurance"). In the study, whilst there were significant differences in the opinions of the academics related to ,,facilities, library and equipment" dimension in terms of gender and title, there were no significant differences in the opinions of the academics regarding the other sub-dimensions.
