Reduction mammaplasty is among the most commonly performed plastic surgical operations throughout the vvorld. Up to now, although a number of breast reduction techniques were described the problems of breast reduction operation are not yet eliminated. in this article, physiology of breast hypertrophy, history and general features of the breast reduction operations were outlined and technical details of the inferior pedicle technique along with our own results were discussed. Resultantly, inferior pedicle technigue when compared with vertical mammaplasty which is another popular technigue in breast reduction, reguires less experience, the results are more reproducible. If adequate and honest preoperative informing of the patient is done, the postoperative result will generally be satisfactory.

Meme küçültme ameliyatları dünyada en fazla uygulanan plastik cerrahi girişimleri arasında yer almaktadır. Günümüze kadar meme küçültme için pek çok cerrahi yöntem tarif edilmiş ancak meme küçültme ameliyatlarının sorunları hala tam olarak çözülememiştir.Bu yazıda meme hipertrofisinin fizyolojisi, meme küçültme ameliyatlarının tarihçeleri ve genel özellikleri özetlenmiş, hem dünyada yaygın olarak uygulanan hem de bizim uyguladığımız yöntem olan inferior pedikül tekniği ve kendi sonuçlarımız incelenmiştir. Sonuç olarak inferior pedikül tekniği günümüzde popüler bir diğer yöntem olan vertikal mamoplastiye kıyasla daha az deneyim gerektiren, tekrarlanabilir sonuçları olan ve hasta ameliyat öncesi gerçekçi bir şekilde bilgilendirildiği takdirde sonuçları yüz güldürücü olabilen bir yöntemdir.
