Abstract

The aim of this study was to find the cause of the bee deaths resulting in Aydın villages. Carbaryl, a carbamate insecticide, was found at the analysis of dead bees. Carbaryl with a level of 44.20-277.85 ppb was detected at the samples taken from nine beekeepers. Average carbaryl level was calculated as 128.90 ppb. It was concluded that the levels of carbaryl in bees samples were extremely high and these results definitely suggested a poisoning caused by carbaryl.
