Abstract

The objectives of the study are to grow containerized carop tree(Ceratonia siliqua L.) seedlings from wild trees seeds in Antalya region within four different kind of container medium and to plant in the field with bare root seedlings and to observe survival and growth performance of the seedlings in the field. The study carried out in two stages. First stage is nursery experiment which was carrjed out Antalya Forest nursery to grow containerized seedling in four container medium and "bare root seedlings. Second one is field experiments which were set up'in three different areas in Antalya region to observe survival and growth performance of the seedlings. The results of nursery and field experiments show that treatment 1(60% red soil+20% sand+ 20% organic manure, treatment 3 (40% clay soil+ 20% organic manure+20% sand) and Treatment 4 (40% red soil+ 30% torf + 15% sand+15% silt) are the most proper container medium for seedling characteristics and survival rate. Treatment2 and bare root seedlings were failed in the field experiments for survival
