Abstract

In this study carried out on the purpose of identifying secondary mathematics teachers' views regarding use of Model Eliciting Activities (MEAs) in lessons, teachers were studied. Data were collected through focus group interviews conducted before and after a workshop where MEAs were introduced and designed. In the first focus group interview, the participants trying to define MEAs with reference to the words MEA included used the statements such as problem solving, teaching process and product generating. In the last focus group interview, the teachers expressing that they could benefit from MEAs at the beginning or at the end of the subject and in the scope of term papers or project works. The participants stated that they could use MEAs in the lessons due to reasons like catching students' attention and integrating different mathematical or interdisciplinary subjects. It is suggested whether the views of teachers change or not can be studied after they implement MEAs in their lessons.
