Abstract

In this study, it was investigated changes in both photoluminescence spectrum and surface chemical structures of porous silicon produced in different anodisation times due to photo-ageing in air. It was observed a clear relation between surface chemical structure and photoluminescence of porous silicon. While photo-ageing causes a blue-shift in PL spectrum peak, it causes either a continuous decrease or first a decrease and then an increase in PL spectrum intensity. The obtained results were explained with hydrogen atoms that left PS surface and quantum confinement model influenced by surface states.
