Abstract
In this study, an alternative prototype has been designed and constructed for variable valve timing systems which are used in spark ignition engines. The effects of intake valve timing and lift changing on engine performance have been investigated without changing the opening duration of the valves. A four stroke, single cylinder, spark ignition engine has been used for these experiments.

Bu çalışmada buji ile ateşlemeli motorlarda kullanılan değişken supap zamanlaması mekanizmalarına alternatif bir prototip hazırlanmıştır. Bu prototip ile kam profili sabit kalmak şartıyla emme supabı açılma miktarı ve zamanlaması değiştirilerek motor performansına olan etkileri incelenmiştir. Bu amaçla tek silindirli, dört zamanlı, buji ile ateşlemeli bir motor kullanılmıştır.
