Abstract

Capsular block syndrome (CBS) is a rare complication ofcataract surgery. CBS is a syndrome which has been chara cterized by accumulation of viscoelastic substance, liquid orliquefied material in the capsular bag following closure ofanterior capsule edge with nucleus or intraocular lens (IOL).There are 3 clinical form of CBS; intraoperative, early post-operative and late postoperative. In late CBS, milky materialcan accumulate behind the IOL and can lead to difficulties indiagnosis. In this case report, we reported a patient with lateCBS mimicking IOL opacification which is diagnosed 8 yearsafter uneventful phacoemulcification and three piece IOLimplantation.
