Abstract

Prurigo pigmentosa is a rare dermatosis with unknown etiology. Clinically; it is characterized by pruritic erythematous papules, papulovesicles that spontaneously resolve, leaving reticulated hyperpigmentation. Lesions usually locate on the trunk, upper part of the back, the sacral area, abdomen and chest. A 22-year-old woman presented to our clinic with pruritic brown macules on her neck and chest, which by means of supportive clinical and histopathological features, was diagnosed as prurigo pigmentosa. We present a patient with a rarely seen disease who was treated effectively with doxycycline.
