Abstract

This investigation was conducted to determine the presence and prevalence of motile Aeromonas species in fish consumed in Van city. In this study; of 50 samples fish belonging to difficult species retailed in Van city and were investigated fillet and intestinal content for motile Aeromonas species.27 of 50 fillets (54.0%) were found to be positive in terms of motile Aeromonas species; 19 (38.0%) of them were A. hydrophila, 6 (12.0%) were A. caviae and was not found in any samples A. sobria. 2 of 50 fillet samples (4.0%) both A. hydrophila and A. caviae were determined. 26 of 50 intestinal content samples (52.0%) were found to be positive for motile Aeromonas species; 23 (46.0%) of them were A. hydrophila, 2 (4.0%) were A. caviae. 1 of 50 intestinal content samples (2.0%) both A. hydrophila and A. sobria were determined. In term of motile Aeromonas incidence difference between fish species and Pearl Mullets (Chalcalburnus tarichi, Pallas 1811), fresh water fish or sea fish was not significance statistically. In conclusion, it constated that contaminated with motile Aeromonas species fish sold in Van city could be caused potential risk for public health. To minimize this risk; it must be strict control fish in respect of hygienic quality and even train consumers treatment with heat enough fish and cross contamination.

Çiğ balıkların bağırsak içeriklerinin 26 (%52.0)’sı hareketli Aeromonas türleri yönünden pozitif bulunmuş, 23 (%46.0) örnekten A. hydrophila, 2 (%4.0) örnekten A. caviae ve 1 (%2.0) örnekten de A. hydrophila ve A. sobria birlikte izole edilmiştir.
