In this study, 22 samples of “Tekel rakı” and 8 samples of “Boğma rakı” (which is manufactured and sold illegally ) were investigated about methanol contents by using spectrophotometric method. Methanol contents of “Tekel rakı” and “Boğma rakı” were found between 78.24-117.37 mg/100 ml and 31.99-307.47 mg/100 ml respectively.

Bu araştırmada ülkemizde Tekel tarafından üretilen 22 adet ve halk arasında boğma rakı olarak bilinen ve evlerde kaçak olarak üretilen 8 adet rakı örneğinde, metanol miktarları spektrofotometrik olarak belirlenmiştir. Tekel ürünü rakılarda metanol miktarı %100 alkol üzerinden 78.24-117.37 mg/100 ml, boğma rakılarda ise 31.99-307.47 mg/100 ml arasında saptanmıştır.
