Abstract

It was found that there was a relationship between ApoE and ACE polymorphism and the risk of morbidity and mortality in cardiovascular diseases. In nowadays, atherosclerosis, Alzheimer Disease and Cerebrovascular diseases have also such an accordance with ApoE and ACE as significant risk factors. ACE genotype groups were looked for basic specialty like DD, ID, II and ApoE for Epsilon 2 (E2), Epsilon 3 (E3), Epsilon 4 (E4) allels as 3 major isophorms. In this study, we investigated ApoE and ACE polymorphism in ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke and evaluated the relationship of risk factors. We compared prospectively 29 ischemic and 20 hemorrhagic stroke with the same group of 20 control people. Patients were between 45 and 88 years old, ischemic group mean age 67.62±10.34 and hemorrhagic group was 65.80±10.92. Of hemorrhagic patients 50% were women and 50% men, ischemic patients 51.7% women and 48.3% men. We couldn't find any significant importance compared to age and sexes. There was no meaningful difference between hemorrhagic and ischemic group and control group in comparison with genotype group of ACE gen poymorphism (X2=0.49, p>0.05). After making groups of E2/E2, E2/E3, E3/E3, E3/E4 and comparing them with control group, there was no significant difference (X2=3.45, p>0.05). Also, there was no significant difference between ischemic and hemorrhagic group as compared with risk factors of hypertension, diabetes mellitus, myocardial infarctus, hyperlipidemi and coronary heart disease.
