Abstract

Aim: The aim of this study is to determine life satisfaction and some of the factors affecting life satisfaction in patients receiving hemodialysis treatment. Material and Method: The study was carried out as adescriptive study with 115 patients who were treated in the hemodialysis unit between May and July 2021, who volunteered to participate in the study, did not have communication and psychological problems and had been on hemodialysis treatment for at least 6 months. The Patient Information Form and Life Satisfaction Scale were used to collect the data. The data were collected using face-toface interview method. The data was analyzed with the SPSS 23.0 package program, by using descriptive statics, Student t Test and One-way Anova test. Results: The average age of the patients participating in the research is 56,86 ± 13,88. 60% of the patients are male, 74,8% are married, 60,9% are retired, 64,3% are primary school graduates. In addition, it was found that 88,7% were nonsmokers, 45,2% sometimes exercised and 87,8% had been on hemodialysis treatment three times a week. The life satisfaction score averages of the patients are 14,96 ± 6,01. It was determined that those who do regular exercise have higher life satisfaction than those who do not, and those with chronic disease in addition to their disease have lower life satisfaction (p <0,05). In addition, the more the ages of the patients increased, the less life satisfaction they had (p <0,05). Conclusion: Hemodialysis patients have moderate life satisfaction levels and age, doing exercise and presence of comorbid chronic diseases affect life satisfaction. It is important for nurses to determine the life satisfaction levels of patients and the factors affecting them in terms of planning interventions to increase patients’ life satisfaction.

Veriler SPSS 23.0 paket programında; tanımlayıcı istatistikler, Student t testi ve One-way ANOVA testleri kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Bulgular: Araştırmaya katılan hastaların yaş ortalaması 56,86±13,88’dir. Hastaların %60’ı erkek, %74,8’i evli, %60,9’u emekli, %64,3’ü ilköğretim mezunudur. Ayrıca hastaların %88,7’sinin sigara kullanmadığı, %45,2’sinin arada egzersiz yaptığı, %87,8’inin haftada üç kez hemodiyaliz tedavisi aldığı belirlenmiştir. Hastaların yaşam doyumu puan ortalamaları 14,96±6,01 olarak saptanmıştır. Düzenli egzersiz yapanların yapmayanlara göre yaşam doyumlarının daha fazla olduğu, hastalığına ek kronik hastalığı olanların yaşam doyumlarının daha düşük olduğu (p<0,05) ve hastaların yaşları arttıkça yaşam doyumlarının azaldığı tespit edilmiştir (p<0,05).Sonuç: Hemodiyaliz hastalarının yaşam doyumu orta düzeydedir ve yaş, egzersiz yapma, ek kronik hastalığın varlığı yaşam doyumunu etkilemektedir. Hemşirelerin hastaların yaşam doyum düzeylerini ve etkileyen faktörleri belirlemeleri, hastaların yaşam doyumunu yükseltmeye yönelik girişimleri planlamaları açısından önemlidir.
