Abstract

This study was carried out to investigate the prevalence of Xanthomonas arboricola pv. corylina which was known to occur in hazelnut orchards of Sakarya, Düzce, Zonguldak, Samsun, Ordu, Giresun and Trabzon provinces during 2007-2010 in Turkey. Total 463 samples were collected during 4 years and samples were isolated on YDCA medium. Yellow, mucoid, 2-3 mm in diameter colonies were purified and 46 isolates were identified on the basis of morphological, biochemical and pathogenicity tests. The prevalence rate of X. a. pv. corylina in Sakarya, Düzce, Zonguldak, Samsun, Ordu, Giresun and Trabzon provinces was detected as 7.3%, 10.4%, 10%, 1.9%, 1.2%, 9.0% and 14.9% respectively.
