Abstract

Night, which is one of the important time periods of human life, is also a concept frequently used in divan poetry. For many people, the night is limited to sleep and rest; In poetry, it was handled together with different elements such as love, entertainment and wine, and it became an important concept used by the poet to reflect his feelings. For the lover who is groaning with the pain of love, this time period, which is not ending, is waiting for the entertainment lovers. The night, which creates fear and suffering for some people, gives the opportunity to realize their desires for some people. In our study, we will try to show how Nedim, who is fond of beauty and entertainment, uses the concepts related to the night in his poems; and how the concept of the night shapes the feelings of pleasure, desire, anxiety, anger and fear with in exemplary couplets.
