Abstract

The knowledge of sexuality and sexual orientations produced by modern medicine has been built directly upon the heterosexist ideology. Medical paradigm categorises the heterosexuality as natural and normal one. This paradigm tacitly assumes that heterosexuality is not only natural and normal but also superior to other forms of sexual orientations. The debate on whether homosexuality, transsexuality and other sexual orientations are sexual pervertion or not emerges from this belief. Hetorosexist ideology of modern medicine could not be adequately understood without critically questioning both the modern medicine s deeming itself as a superior technique of treatment and the knowledge produced by it not only about homosexuality but also about the sexuality in general.
