Abstract

There are three important aims of this study. First aim is to determine the Hierarchy of Preferences of Dairy Cattle Breedersin terms of supporting policies. Second aim is to test whether the factors for breeders and farms cause a change in these preferences. Third aim is to determine the supporting models for different farm sizes. The main material of the study is survey data obtained from 95 producers in İzmir. According to Fuzzy Pairwise Comparison, seven different policy tools were provided to breeders. According to this, breeders chosen price and milk support for priority policy tools. Zero interest credits and insurance supports were the least preferred policy tools. Also, it was determined that education, land size, operating scale (number of dairy cows) and information about agriculture affects support policy preferences. Also, according to the farm sizes, small scale farms prefer price supports firstly; medium scale farms prefer zero interest credits and cattle support firstly and finally large scale farms prefer forage and milk supports. According to the study, different support models can be formed to the different farm sizes. New policies can help breeders for motivation and it can help for development of dairy cattle sector.
