Abstract

In this study, 5083-O, 5186-H111 and 5083-H111 aluminum alloy plates were welded as similar and dissimilar joints using Friction Stir Welding (FSW) process. In order to investigate the effect of welding speeds on properties; metallographic and mechanical tests were carried out on the welded areas of the parts. Hardness, tensile and fatigue tests of the joints experimentally assessed. As a metallurgical investigation, Optical Microscopy (OM) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) were used for both similar and dissimilar base and weld zones.
