Abstract

In this study, the effect of mineralizer (NaF) on pigment colours and synthesis conditions in the production of V-zircon pigment by solid-state synthesis method was investigated. For this purpose, the initial composition of ZrO2, SiO2 and V2O5 mixtures prepared with and without NaF addition were calcined at temperatures of 750-1050 C and the production of V-zircon pigments was carried out. Phase analysis, morphological properties and L*a*b* colour measurements of the pigments were characterized by XRD, FE-SEM and UV-Vis-spectra analysis, respectively. From these results, it was observed that the use of mineralizers contributes to the fact that pigment phase transformations occur at a lower temperature and the formation of a stable blue colour.
